Fairfield wins district baseball final 9-4 (Daily Gate City)

FAIRFIELD — Fairfield Trojans defeated the Keokuk Chiefs 9-4 in the Class 3A District 10 baseball final Monday.

Fairfield, 26-11, plays Assumption in the Class 3A Substste 5 game Wednesday at Washington.

Keokuk ends the season 15-24.

Trailing 9-0, the Chiefs scored all of their runs in the sixth inning. Dalton Boecker, Matt Wyatt and Reade Reiter singled to load the bases. Courtesy runner Gavin Walker scored on a wild pitch. Wyatt and Reiter scored on a Fairfield error, and Ethan Blaise scored on a wild pitch.

Keokuk threatened in the seventh. Boecker singled with two outs, and Bryce Miller followed with a double, but a pop out ended the game.

Boecker was 3 for 4 at the plate to lead Keokuk. Miller was 2 for 4.
